It has been a very strange week astrologically – with a powerful Full Lunar Blood Moon Eclipse at 25 degrees Scorpio on Monday May 16th 2022, followed by Mars conjunct Neptune activating the eclipse point by trine, loosely for most of this week - basically amplifying it's crazy energy. By tomorrow, I hope to wake up firmly back on the ground.
Mars Conjunct Neptune
When planets are conjunct, it means they sit on the same degree and their energies try to merge and infuse with each other.
The problem has been that Mars and Neptune’s energies are not very compatible. Mars is a fiery, strong, aggressive planet representing movement, power and action. Neptune is dreamy and intangible like a mist. So when the two sit together in the sky, Mars is afflicted by a foggy uncertainty that disables swift progress. This can go by unnoticed if you are not tuned in, but you may have felt more ineffective or ungrounded, or sensitive in a bad way – or very disconnected, more tired or not on top form this week – especially if it ties into your natal chart.
More positively, you may have also felt more sensual, inspired and otherworldly – and these ideas can be harvested and injected into creative new projects in the weeks to come. Luckily because it has been activated by a trine, although it has been intense, the energy can now be channelled outwards as we are starting to come out of it.
I have noticed everyone around me experiencing symptoms of this beautifully strange energy. And even as I am writing this, I have had an enquiry from someone with related Neptunian / energy issues. I’ll take that as a positive sign that I am on the right track, even attempting to write a blog tonight, when the energies are less than ideal still.
Solving This Mystery
I have been trying to pinpoint this weird energy all week as it’s really affected me. And I couldn’t understand why as it does not precisely aspect any of my major planets or angles in my natal chart, except for my nodes – and only by Quincunx.
This vibration is like - I can feel it (Neptune) but I can’t find it or understand it – through any astrological system (or so I thought). I can hear music coming from somewhere, but it keeps fading in and out and I can’t locate the source. And I can’t stop searching for it either (Mars).
I have been sitting here for hours, and on one of my screen breaks I turned around and saw the photo at the top of the page. To me it is the perfect visual representation of what I am writing about: #spacecadetcity. Another sign to keep going.
The breakthrough came on my way back from the shop today, when I suddenly remembered a conversation I had a few days ago with my friend, who is also very into astrology. Her Sun is conjunct my North Node (so she is also being directly affected by this Quincunx aspect from Mars/Neptune – although in a slightly different way.) And whilst reflecting on how she was feeling on Monday I suddenly got some clarity.
She has always tried to talk to me about Quincunx aspects, and how much she hates them. I don’t have many in my chart, and so have never been able to tune into this frequency until now. Logically I could understand what she was saying and could empathise to a high degree. But I couldn’t fully experience it in my body. I would like to find a more suitably grounded example right now, but the only one I can think of is – until you have seen a spirit/ghost – you don’t truly believe they exist. You might get it with your mind, but your body can’t accept it.
Underestimating Quincunxes
Quincunxes are a subtle, minor astrological link where 2 planets are 150 degrees apart. The two planets or angles involved, don’t combine well – if they were people, they would speak different languages and have very different world views dependent on their element and sign.
The Quincunx from Neptune to my natal North Node has been so subtle, I hadn't even noticed it, until this Lunar Eclipse occurred and illuminated it. Neptune is often a very subtle, hard to pinpoint energy too (the mist) - unless it is magnified by something else.
The North and South Nodes
The nodes represent our spiritual path in life – the North - what we should move towards, and the South, what we should move away from. Depending on which house they are located in, will show you what comes easily, and what you have to do with it. It's actually hard to do what your North Node represents, it is your biggest challenge and where if you work at it, you can grow most.
They direct us to move away from what’s comfortable and known - for me that’s seeking knowledge/higher understanding) and do what’s uncomfortable – for me that is to speak about it and try and verbalise difficult topics in a way another person can understand. In essence they show us our lifelong mission and this transit has reminded me how important they are.
Pulling it All Together - Thank you Neptune!
This combination of energies is a rare gift although not very comfortable. It has amplified a subtle aspect (the Quincunx) for me, to such a degree, I can finally understand it.
It is said that ‘To synthesise these energies (the Quincunx), each has to see the strengths of the other.’ Initially I thought, maybe that’s a topic for another day.
However, on reflection, I have done this tonight through writing. The Quincunx to my North Node has been a foggy battle (Mars/Neptune) to gain clarity. By combining the intuitive abilities of Neptune with the aggression of Mars and the power of the Total Eclipse, I have been able to express my North Node a bit more.
I have followed my life path tonight – by attempting to write about a difficult topic, and had two signs of confirmation from the universe whilst writing this (the enquiry and the photo above) that I am making spiritual progress. Bingo! 😊 All I’ve got to do now is share it!
