How to Introduce Them to Your Space
Water: Energy Quality – still, fluctuating, calm on the surface but flowing underneath
Adding water to your space:
Use dark blue/black colours, glassware especially deep blue, blue and black wavy silk fabrics, curvy or wavy shapes, watery pictures.
The purpose of water is flowing movement, progress, tranquillity, flexibility and progress. It is naturally found in the North sector of your home and represents your life path – or career. However adding water here is not correct for everyone, so please don’t interpret this as general advice. Feng Shui is complicated and needs to be carefully balanced by a qualified practitioner. This is because a feng shui consultation works to balance each sector, so you may need another element in the North depending on which flying stars reside there.
There is also a difference between virtual and real water. Virtual water uses colour, shape, imagery etc as described above, but not real water that is exposed to the air. Active water is used by adding fountains or fish tanks – to energise your 8 and 9 water stars – to generate wealth and opportunities.
Putting active water in any part of your home will ‘wake up’ the water star residing there. So it is critical to place indoor water features with precision and caution!
Water energy used in virtual water form is good to calm down anyone with a wood day master sign. SO is an excellent colour choice for bedding, and relaxation areas – especially if you are over energized.
Wood: Energy Quality – rising upward
Wood energy can be introduced with wooden furniture, plants, tall rectangular shapes, light blue. turquoise and green colours. On a physical level, writing down your thoughts on paper brings in wood energy.
The purpose of wood is to generate growth, optimism, vitality and ascension. It is associated with the East (yang wood) and Southeast (yin wood). However as above, these sectors of your home, whist naturally wood palaces, need balancing depending on which stars reside there.
As I write this we are in a Yang wood Tiger year – so you can feel the effects of strong wood energy.
From February 2023, we will move into a Yin Wood Rabbit year, which is softer and more creative and perhaps more internally focused.
Fire: Energy Quality – expanding outwards
You can add fire to your space, where it is suggested through the use of fiery colours – red, orange, bright yellow, pink, deep purple. Also candles, real fires, wood burners, bright lights all add the fire element.
Shapes to add fire are triangular, symbolism includes rising energy, the sun, full moon. Upward expansive motion. Silk material is also considered as part of the fire family.
The purpose of fire is to create illumination, excitement, passion, recognition and fame. It naturally resides in the South, but should be added where appropriate to support the 8 water and mountain stars.
Earth: Energy Quality – stabilising, downward, grounding
Located in the southwest and northeast, earth can be added to your space with earthy colours – brown, terracotta, beige, cream, dull yellows and earthy pinks. The shape of earth is a low rectangle, and other earth cures may include stones, sand, nurturing symbolism, soil.
The purpose of earth energy is to provide cosiness, warmth and nurturing, comfort and steadiness. In the SW it represents the relationship sector, in the NE it represents inner knowledge and wisdom.
Metal: Energy Quality – contracting and inward
Metal where required can be added to a space with colour – white, grey, silver or gold, circular shapes and actual metal objects. Another effective way to add metal where required is through sound, such as a bell, chiming clock or singing bowl.
It represents leadership, clarity, and concentrated effort as well as solidity. It is used in the current period to neutralize the 5-earth star as well as the 2-sickness star. A feng shui consultation will tell you where these are and the best remedies to neutralize them depending on where they sit in your home or business.
Metal is located naturally in the west and morthwest – the west symbolizes creativity and children and projects. The morthwest – helpful people.
